PBTS Services

Engineer-designed Performance-Based Treatment Systems (PBTS) to meet strict levels of effluent pollutant reductions. PBTS are different from typical tank and drain field designs because they reduce the amount of space needed.

Regular inspections are crucial to identify any issues within the septic system. We conduct comprehensive inspections to assess the condition of the tank, pipes, drain field, and other components.

For the entire life of the system, the Health Department requires a maintenance contract between the homeowner and an approved maintenance entity for the system.

By rule and statute, a Biannual operating permit is required prior to the use of an ATU or PBTS. The operating permit is non-transferable. At the time the owner of a residence or business changes, a new permit must be applied for.

Different sample levels are required depending on the level of PBTS and the reductions or increases the system needs to take advantage of, due to the specific lot conditions. Samples are the proof that the reductions are warranted.

Scheduled maintenance, such as pumping the septic tank and cleaning is essential to prevent clogs, system failures, and environmental hazards.

Handling repairs ranging from fixing leaks, addressing blockages, replacing damaged components, and repairing drain fields, to solving more complex issues affecting the system functionality.

Maintain records of inspections, repairs conducted, and any recommendations for future maintenance. This documentation is essential for property owners and may be required for compliance purposes.

Provide recommendations and perform upgrades or modifications to existing septic systems to improve efficiency, increase capacity, or meet regulatory requirements.

Assist property owners in understanding and complying with local regulations regarding septic systems. Providing guidance on permit requirements, system upgrades, or modifications needed for compliance.

Emphasizing environmentally friendly practices to ensure that septic systems operate efficiently without adverse effects on the environment.

Educating property owners about proper system usage, signs of potential issues, and maintenance practices is crucial. We may provide guidelines on what can or cannot be flushed and general best practices for system longevity.
